OnePlus Nord 2 Release Date, Specs and Price

 OnePlus Nord 2 Revealed

Source: OnePlus

Last year, OnePlus has introduced the mid-range phone market with the Nord, which is awarded at top level when it passed through for review . So we are waiting for the company's upcoming sequel, the Nord 2.

After several rumours OnePlus has finally confirmed that the Nord 2 is officially on the way to market, along with choice details about its processor. But thanks to the leaks we know much more about the phone than that . Here's the details what we know so far, including when we can expect the Nord 2.

When is the OnePlus Nord 2's release date?
It will launch on 22 July with an online event which will start at 3pm BST / 4pm CET / 7:30pm IST. In the blog post of  launch event, OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau promises to introduce the phone "for our users in Europe and India," so it looks likely that the Nord 2 will not launch in North America.

Meanwhile 91mobiles reports that in India the phone will cost around Rs 31,999. For an 8GB/128GB SKU and Rs 34,999 for a 12GB/256GB model - which is Rs 3,999 price hike over the original Nord. Looks like it's going to be a more expensive Nord than we've seen yet.

OnePlus Nord 2 5G is going to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI. Which makes the first time that OnePlus has used a chip that it is not made by Qualcomm, and interestingly it's a customized chipset designed using MediaTek’s Dimensity Open Resource Architecture project.

The extra features are focused on artificial intelligence. OnePlus has teased AI based scene recognition and video enhancement in the camera and the AI tech to boost social media content to full HD and HDR and better adjust screen brightness based on ambient light.

OnePlus's have officially confirmed the display specifications: 6.43in 90 Hz Fluid AMOLED display with HDR 10+ support. It  looks like an exact match for the original Nord's display which was slightly larger at 6.44inches.

The company has been confirmed that the Nord 2has triple camera with a 50Mp main lens using the Sony IMX766 sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS). That's really good for a couple of reasons - because it's the same sensor used for the ultrawide cameras on the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, and both the main and ultrawide sensor in the excellent Oppo Find X3 Pro.

It's great to see OIS is included - a definite rarity at the price point, it should help make the camera competitive for video and for lowlight photography. Also, there's a new night mode called Nightscape Ultra, which shows how confident OnePlus is here.
